Green United young filmmakers put food waste in the spotlight

Green United members Arthur, Edith, and Tove have turned their creativity to one of our most important everyday environmental challenges: food waste.

After taking part in a six-week filmmaking course, the three young filmmakers have created a lively, funny and informative short film exploring what happens to our food waste, why reducing it matters, and how something as simple as using a food waste caddy can make a real difference.

The film premiered at Depot in Lewes and follows the journey of local food waste to the Woodlands facility, where it is transformed into resources for local farming — a brilliant example of the circular economy in action. With just under a quarter of households in Lewes district using the council’s free food waste caddy, the film aims to encourage more families to get involved.

The film will be screened before family films at Depot for a month. A huge well done to Arthur, Edith and Tove, and thank you to Tash and Ant at Depot, Lewes District Council and everyone who supported the project.
