The Big Ask: May 2022

On 5 May, over 100 young people and community members came together online for the Big Ask event — a powerful evening of ideas, collaboration and commitment to environmental action.

During the event, young people presented their priorities for change and clearly outlined their “asks” to the wider community. These included practical projects and initiatives where they felt local organisations, businesses and residents could make a meaningful difference.

Attending organisations and adults were invited to respond by 22 May, outlining how they might be able to support the young people’s proposals — whether through:

  • Time
  • Expertise
  • Paid professional skills (“talent”)
  • Financial contributions (“treasure”)

The Big Ask demonstrated the strength of youth leadership in Lewes and the willingness of the wider community to listen, respond and take action alongside them.
